Longmont
Boulder County's working heart, with craft food and drink, maker spaces, and Longs Peak standing watch over Main Street.
Longmont was founded in 1871 by the Chicago-Colorado Colony, near the confluence of the St. Vrain and Left Hand creeks, and takes its name from Longs Peak to the west. It was the first planned community in Boulder County: the original streets were laid out on a grid inside a single square mile, and Main Street is US 287, the old Overland Stage route.
