Wellington
The northern gateway: wide-open prairie, a tight-knit main street, and fifteen minutes from everything Fort Collins.
Wellington was established in 1902 and incorporated in 1905, named for C.L. Wellington of the Colorado and Southern Railroad. It sits at Interstate 25 and Highway 1 in the northeast corner of Larimer County, on the old road between Cheyenne and Fort Collins, and grew up as an oil, coal and farming town. It held around five hundred residents for most of the twentieth century and is many times that size now.
