Severance
Where the Wild West still kicks, a small town with big skies, famous rocky-mountain oysters, and room to grow.
Severance took its name in 1894 from David E. Severance, who applied for a post office to serve the farms around it. The town itself was founded in 1906 by Bruce Eaton, son of Governor Benjamin Eaton, and incorporated in 1920. It was a sugar beet receiving station on the Great Western Railway until 1985. In 2018 the town board voted unanimously to repeal a ban on snowball fights, after a nine-year-old resident presented the case for it.
