What we collect

Information you give us. When you subscribe to our newsletter, claim a business listing, or contact us, we collect what you provide: typically your name, email address, phone number, and business details.

Information collected automatically. We measure how the site is used. We do not build advertising profiles of individual visitors.

Site-wide, we use one or more analytics services to understand aggregate traffic, including pages visited, referring sites, and approximate region. Depending on the service, this can involve cookies or similar technologies set in your browser.

On business listing pages we also record activity that tells us how a listing is performing, such as views of a listing and interactions with the contact details on it. For each of these we record details such as which listing it relates to, what kind of activity it was, when it happened, information about the listing at that time, the domain of the site you came from if you arrived from another one, and a one-way scrambled form of your IP address. The scrambled value helps us tell a visit from a page refresh, keep a single source from distorting a listing's figures, and limit how much any one source can send us. It cannot be turned back into your IP address, we do not store the address itself, and it is not connected to your name, your email, or anything else we hold about you. Where you arrived from another site, we record its domain rather than the full web address.

Cookies

Signing in to claim or manage a listing sets a small number of cookies that keep you signed in between pages. They're functional, not tracking; we don't use them to build an advertising profile or follow you across other sites. Browsing the public site without signing in sets none of these sign-in cookies.

The listing measurement described above sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. Analytics services used to measure site-wide traffic may set cookies or similar technologies of their own.

How we collect business listing information

Directory listings are compiled from publicly available business information: company websites, public mapping and business-listing services, published opening hours, and publicly posted contact details. We do not buy personal contact lists.

Where a business has a published contact address, we may email a business's published contact address to let the business know it is listed and to offer them a free claim of that listing. Those messages are sent on our behalf through an email delivery and outreach platform. Every one identifies us and gives you a way to decline.

Correcting or removing a listing. You can claim a listing to correct it yourself, or ask us to remove it entirely, at any time, through our contact form. We act on removal requests without requiring you to claim the listing first, and we stop any further outreach to that business at the same time.

• To contact business owners about their own listings: claiming, corrections, and listing products

We do not sell personal information.

Who we share it with

We use a small set of service providers to run the site, described here by category rather than by name: hosting and database, email delivery and outreach platforms, payment processing (for premium listings), customer relationship management, and AI service providers used for the automated processing described below. Each receives only what it needs to do its job. We may also disclose information when required by law.

We may also share limited information between people associated with the same business listing, such as letting an existing contact know when someone else takes an action on it, so activity affecting a listing is visible to everyone connected to it.

Automated processing

Messages you send us (including replies to our emails) may be processed by automated systems that classify what a message is about and route it to the right place. That processing can involve third-party AI service providers acting on our behalf, and it may extract details you include in your message, such as a corrected address, phone number, or opening hours for your business.

Automated classification does not by itself decide most things that affect your rights, but it can act on a clear request you make. If a reply from a business clearly asks us to take its listing down, we may take an unclaimed listing down automatically, and you can ask us to undo that at any time, or we may undo it ourselves. Claimed listings, and replies that are unclear, are never taken down automatically. Automated classification never publishes a change to a listing on its own: a correction extracted this way is reviewed by a person before it's applied. That review applies specifically to corrections we extract from an inbound message; it's separate from editing your own listing. If you've claimed a listing, edits you publish yourself through your dashboard go live immediately, the same as any update you choose to make. You can reach a human directly at any time through our contact form.

Your choices

• Newsletter: unsubscribe via the link in any email, or write to us.
• Business listings: owners may claim, correct, or request removal of their listing at any time.
• Your data: you may request a copy or deletion of the personal information we hold about you through our contact form.

Retention & security

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, and we protect it with industry-standard safeguards. No internet service can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable measures appropriate to the data we hold.

Children

NoCoThrive is a general-audience site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We'll post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date below. Material changes will be noted prominently.
